Posted on behalf of Sheerlegs..........

In the early hours of this day 45 years past, Aurigas (S 69) number one battery exploded. All forward of the control room was wrecked. We had been exercising off of Gib. and had surfaced to clear a signal. The considerable blast had its outlet through the conning tower hatch. We suffered ten casualties, thankfully, none fatal.

I often wonder what the outcome would have been if we were dived. Would we have followed our sister Boat Affray
